About the Role
Our client is looking for a knowledgeable Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their technical services team in Bristol, South West England . This role is essential for managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems to ensure efficient and safe well construction operations in the Oil & Gas sector. You will be responsible for the formulation, testing, and application of drilling fluids, working closely with drilling crews to address operational challenges. Your expertise will directly contribute to wellbore stability, formation protection, and overall drilling performance, making this a critical position for operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and recommend appropriate drilling fluid systems based on geological conditions and operational requirements.
- Supervise the mixing and application of drilling fluids on drilling rigs.
- Conduct regular laboratory testing of fluid properties and provide analysis reports.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid-related problems encountered during operations.
- Manage inventory of drilling fluid materials and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding drilling fluid disposal.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum) or a related science discipline.
- 2-4 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or in a related mud engineering role.
- Knowledge of drilling fluid properties, additives, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with drilling operations and challenges.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
