Drug Safety Physician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Drug Safety Physician to join their global drug safety team, remotely supporting operations in the Bristol region. This crucial role involves the medical assessment of adverse event reports, contributing to benefit-risk evaluations, and ensuring patient safety across the product lifecycle. You will collaborate with internal safety committees, regulatory affairs, and clinical development teams to provide expert medical insights. The ideal candidate is a physician with a strong understanding of pharmacovigilance principles, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient safety in the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment and interpretation of adverse event data for assigned products.
• Contribute medical expertise to signal detection and risk management activities.
• Review and approve aggregate safety reports (e.g., PBRERs, DSURs) from a medical perspective.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety-related aspects of clinical trials and post-marketing surveillance.
• Serve as a medical expert for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies on drug safety matters.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of safety monitoring plans and risk management strategies.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent) with board certification or eligibility preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drug safety or pharmacovigilance , including significant medical assessment responsibilities.
• In-depth knowledge of pharmacovigilance principles, methodologies, and global regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of clinical medicine and the ability to critically evaluate clinical data.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams remotely in the South West England area.
