About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of their livestock enterprise near Plymouth, Devon . This hands-on role involves managing a team, ensuring the health and welfare of livestock, and maintaining efficient farm practices. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the farm, focusing on areas such as feeding, breeding, health management, and record-keeping. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to contribute to a well-established agricultural operation in the scenic South West of England .
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct farm staff in daily livestock management tasks.
- Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of all livestock, implementing care routines and monitoring for any issues.
- Oversee feeding programs, ensuring accurate and timely distribution of feed.
- Assist with breeding programs, including monitoring for heats, artificial insemination, and parturition.
- Maintain farm records, including livestock numbers, health treatments, breeding records, and feed consumption.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of animal housing, equipment, and general farm infrastructure.
Requirements
- Proven experience in livestock farming, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, health, and welfare practices for cattle/sheep/poultry (specify primary if needed).
- Experience managing and motivating a small team of farm workers.
- Good understanding of farm safety procedures and regulations in the UK .
- Ability to perform practical farm tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
- A relevant qualification in Agriculture or Animal Science is advantageous.
