Livestock Farm Supervisor - Plymouth

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Livestock Farm Supervisor to manage daily operations at their farm located near Plymouth . This hands-on role requires a strong understanding of animal husbandry, herd management, and farm operations. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of farmhands, ensuring the welfare and productivity of the livestock, and maintaining the farm's infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for animal agriculture and leadership skills to contribute to a thriving farming enterprise. You will work directly with the farm owner and management team to implement best practices and achieve operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily livestock operations, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring.
• Ensure the welfare and optimal health of all livestock on the farm.
• Lead and motivate a team of farmhands, assigning tasks and overseeing their performance.
• Maintain farm records, including breeding, production, and health data.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, fences, and equipment.
• Implement and ensure adherence to biosecurity and animal welfare protocols.
• Assist in the planning and execution of breeding and culling programs.

Requirements

• Proven experience in livestock farming, with a strong understanding of animal husbandry and herd management.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in an agricultural setting.
• Knowledge of common livestock diseases and treatments.
• Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
• Good record-keeping and organizational skills.
• A commitment to high standards of animal welfare and farm safety.
• Formal qualifications in Agriculture or Animal Science are advantageous.
