About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join their expanding network deployment team in Edinburgh . This critical hands-on role involves accurately fusing optical fibers together to create continuous, low-loss connections essential for high-speed data transmission. You will work on various projects, from new installations to repairs, ensuring the integrity and performance of the fiber optic network. The successful candidate will be meticulous, safety-conscious, and possess a strong understanding of fiber optic principles and equipment within the telecoms field.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode optical fibers.
- Operate and maintain fusion splicing equipment, ensuring accuracy and optimal performance.
- Conduct optical loss testing and certification using OTDR and power meters.
- Prepare fiber optic cables for splicing, including stripping, cleaning, and cleaving.
- Identify and repair faults in fiber optic networks.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and industry best practices during all work activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer with demonstrable proficiency.
- In-depth knowledge of fiber optic cable types, connectors, and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in operating various fiber optic splicing and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret fiber optic network plans and designs.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Must possess a valid UK driving license and be willing to travel as needed within the Edinburgh area and surrounding regions.
