About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join their expanding infrastructure team in Sunderland . This role is essential for the deployment and maintenance of high-speed fibre optic networks across the region. You will be responsible for accurately splicing fibre optic cables, ensuring the integrity and performance of our client's network infrastructure. This position is perfect for a meticulous technician who takes pride in their work and plays a vital role in expanding connectivity within the telecoms sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform precise fibre optic splicing and testing using fusion splicers and OTDR equipment.
• Install, repair, and maintain fibre optic cables and related network components.
• Read and interpret network designs , schematics, and splicing maps.
• Conduct thorough testing and quality control to ensure splice integrity and network performance.
• Manage and maintain splicing equipment, vehicles, and materials.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and company guidelines on all job sites.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer with proficiency in various splicing techniques.
• Proficiency with fusion splicing machines and Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR).
• Understanding of fibre optic cable types, connectors, and testing standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fibre optic schematics and documentation.
• Good physical condition to work in various outdoor environments and confined spaces.
• Valid UK driving licence and a commitment to safety.
