About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Fibre Optic Splicer to join their expanding infrastructure team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This is a hands-on role essential for the deployment and maintenance of high-speed fibre optic networks. You will be responsible for performing precise fibre splicing, testing, and fault location to ensure the integrity and performance of our client's network assets. The ideal candidate will possess meticulous attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality fibre optic splicing using various fusion splicing machines in both field and office environments.
• Conduct thorough testing of fibre optic cables using OTDR, power meters, and other test equipment to verify integrity and performance.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair fibre optic cable faults and network impairments.
• Read and interpret network design maps, blueprints, and splice documentation.
• Maintain detailed records of splicing activities, test results, and equipment used.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety standards and project specifications.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Fibre Optic Splicer with a strong understanding of fibre optic technologies.
• Proficiency in using fusion splicers and associated fibre optic testing equipment (OTDR, VFL, power meters).
• Ability to interpret fibre optic schematics and documentation.
• Knowledge of different fibre types and splicing techniques.
• Physical ability to work in various environmental conditions and potentially in confined spaces.
• A commitment to safety and quality workmanship is paramount.
