About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Fleet Maintenance Engineer to oversee the upkeep and operational efficiency of their diverse vehicle fleet based in Belfast . This hybrid role involves a combination of hands-on inspection, strategic planning for maintenance schedules, and coordination with external service providers. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of the fleet, minimizing downtime and maximizing vehicle availability. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to take on a key role in managing fleet operations, contributing to the smooth running of business logistics throughout Northern Ireland .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Manage relationships with external garages and suppliers, obtaining quotes and approving work.
- Oversee vehicle repairs, ensuring they are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections in the fleet management system.
- Investigate and resolve mechanical breakdowns and operational issues promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet management or a senior automotive maintenance role.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in using fleet management software and standard office applications.
- Good communication and negotiation skills for managing external suppliers.
- A valid driving license and willingness to travel for inspections as needed.
