About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep and operational efficiency of their diverse vehicle fleet based in Plymouth . This crucial role involves managing a team of mechanics, scheduling preventative maintenance, overseeing repairs, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. You will be instrumental in minimizing downtime and controlling maintenance costs, contributing directly to the company's operational success. This position offers a strategic leadership opportunity within a dynamic logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for the entire fleet.
- Manage and motivate a team of mechanics and maintenance staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Oversee all vehicle repairs, ensuring they are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and vehicle service history.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations, health and safety legislation, and environmental standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet management or a senior role within automotive maintenance and repair.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic techniques across various vehicle types.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fleet maintenance software and cost control strategies.
- A commitment to upholding high standards of vehicle safety and regulatory compliance.
- A full UK driving licence is required, with a clean record preferred.
