About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair operations for their diverse vehicle fleet based in Portsmouth . This leadership role involves managing a team of technicians, controlling maintenance budgets, ensuring fleet compliance, and optimizing operational efficiency. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of vehicle reliability and safety for a critical fleet, playing a key role in logistics and operational success from their Portsmouth hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the fleet maintenance department, including scheduling and workload allocation.
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of vehicle technicians and mechanics.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and repair costs.
- Oversee vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
- Manage workshop inventory, including parts and supplies, and control operational budgets.
- Ensure the fleet complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet management or a senior supervisory role within automotive maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and repair procedures for a variety of vehicle types.
- Experience in budget management and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with fleet management software and reporting tools.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
