About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep of their extensive vehicle fleet in Sunderland . You will be responsible for ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and optimizing operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of fleet management best practices, and the ability to manage budgets effectively. You will lead a team of mechanics and support staff, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations within the bustling Sunderland depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
- Manage a team of automotive technicians and support staff, including hiring, training, and performance reviews.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize vehicle breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.
- Manage workshop inventory, including parts ordering and stock control, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all H&S and environmental regulations related to fleet operations.
- Analyze fleet performance data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Liaise with external suppliers and service providers for specialized repairs or parts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet management or a senior workshop management role.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance, and repair across various vehicle types.
- Experience managing budgets and controlling maintenance costs effectively.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
