About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is pivotal in overseeing the geotechnical aspects of significant energy infrastructure projects, ensuring stability and safety through rigorous analysis and design. You will be responsible for managing a range of projects from initial site investigation and detailed design through to construction support, working on foundations for wind turbines, pipelines, and other critical energy installations. The successful candidate will leverage extensive knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and ground improvement techniques to deliver robust and cost-effective solutions in a collaborative team environment, playing a key part in the UK's energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geotechnical investigation and analysis for diverse energy projects.
- Prepare detailed design reports for foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures.
- Oversee site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and client liaison effectively.
Requirements
- BEng/MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a specialization in Geotechnics.
- Significant experience (8+ years) as a Geotechnical Engineer , preferably within the energy sector.
- Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) and site investigation techniques.
- Strong understanding of relevant UK and international geotechnical design codes and standards.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with a client-focused approach.
