About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Sunderland . This role is essential for maintaining and improving the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems. You will be hands-on in implementing, managing, and monitoring security technologies to protect against cyber threats. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for a proactive security professional to contribute to a robust security program, work with a variety of security tools, and develop expertise in a supportive environment focused on continuous improvement and threat defence.

Key Responsibilities

Implement, configure, and maintain security solutions including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security.
Monitor network and system logs for security anomalies and potential threats using SIEM tools.
Respond to security incidents, conducting investigations and implementing containment and remediation measures.
Perform regular security audits and vulnerability scans to ensure system integrity.
Assist in the development and maintenance of security documentation and procedures.
Collaborate with IT operations to ensure security best practices are integrated into system deployments and configurations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
2-4 years of professional experience in an information security or network security role.
Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners.
Understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
Ability to analyze security logs and events effectively.
Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards is a plus.
