About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Chemical Engineer with a specialisation in Process Safety to join their team in Wolverhampton . This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of safety are integrated into all stages of process design, operation, and modification. You will lead safety reviews, develop risk assessment strategies, and champion a strong safety culture across the organisation. This is a key position for a seasoned professional looking to make a significant impact on operational integrity and risk management within a forward-thinking company based in the West Midlands , with a hybrid working arrangement from our Wolverhampton facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct comprehensive process hazard analyses (PHAs), HAZOPs, and LOPAs.
- Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK and international safety regulations and standards.
- Provide expert guidance on safety aspects of new process designs and modifications.
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Train and mentor engineering staff on process safety best practices and requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience (e.g., 7+ years) in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations, hazard assessment techniques, and risk management.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and relief system design.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with operations in the Wolverhampton area is beneficial but not essential for this safety-focused role.
