About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer with a specialization in the chemical industry for their facility in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This role is paramount in ensuring the highest standards of safety across all operations, mitigating risks, and maintaining compliance with stringent regulations. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting hazard analyses, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international safety legislation and industry standards.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to plant personnel and management.
- Maintain safety documentation, including safety reports, permits, and risk assessments.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA) and risk assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and machinery safety standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, IOSH) is highly desirable.
