About the Role
Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Cybersecurity Engineer to spearhead their security engineering efforts in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organisation's cybersecurity infrastructure to protect against evolving threats. You will lead a team of security professionals, providing technical direction and mentorship, while working closely with other IT departments to ensure a secure operating environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-wide cybersecurity solutions, including network security, endpoint protection, and data loss prevention.
- Manage and mentor a team of cybersecurity engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high performance.
- Develop and implement security architecture frameworks and standards to align with business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the integration of security technologies and processes across diverse IT systems and applications.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Over 7 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering and architecture.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex security projects.
- Deep understanding of network protocols, security technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR), and cloud security best practices.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2) and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.
