Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and statistical analyses for mining applications .
- Develop predictive models for ore body identification, grade prediction, and production forecasting.
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and transforming large, complex datasets from various sources.
- Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, fostering technical growth and best practices in data science .
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and operations managers to identify key business challenges and opportunities addressable by data science.
- Communicate complex findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through compelling visualizations and presentations.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of experience in data science and machine learning , with at least 2 years in a lead or management role.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Proficiency with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience in the natural resources or mining industry is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
