About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Drilling Engineer to join their innovative team based in Milton Keynes , with a hybrid working model. This senior role is pivotal in the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations for exploration and development wells in challenging environments. You will lead a team of drilling engineers, ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while adhering to the highest technical and environmental standards within the Oil & Gas sector. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of complex drilling programs, from conceptualization to final wellbore integrity.
- Lead and mentor a team of drilling engineers, providing technical guidance and performance management.
- Develop detailed drilling procedures, cost estimates, and risk mitigation plans for all drilling activities.
- Manage relationships with service companies, ensuring performance, quality, and cost control.
- Implement new technologies and best practices to enhance drilling efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
- Conduct post-well analysis and lessons learned sessions to continuously improve drilling operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in drilling engineering, including significant offshore or challenging onshore project leadership.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex drilling campaigns and diverse teams.
- Strong understanding of well control principles, casing design, and drilling fluid technology.
- Experience with drilling performance monitoring and optimization techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills are essential for this Milton Keynes -based role.
