About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Drilling Engineer to oversee drilling operations and strategy from their Coventry office. This critical role involves managing complex drilling projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness throughout the drilling lifecycle. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of drilling engineers, develop innovative drilling solutions, and collaborate with various departments to achieve project objectives. Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute comprehensive drilling programs, including well design, casing and cementation strategies, and fluid selection.
Manage drilling operations, supervise onsite personnel, and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Lead risk assessment and mitigation planning for drilling operations, identifying potential hazards and developing contingency plans.
Mentor and guide junior drilling engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical development.
Optimize drilling performance, reduce non-productive time (NPT), and manage drilling budgets effectively.

Requirements

A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering, including supervisory roles.
Proven track record in designing and managing complex onshore and offshore drilling campaigns.
Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, well control, and directional drilling techniques.
Proficiency in drilling simulation and planning software.
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
