About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Drilling Engineer to spearhead drilling operations from their Coventry operational base. This senior position demands expertise in planning, executing, and managing complex drilling campaigns, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will lead a team of drilling engineers, interface with operational teams, and contribute to the strategic development of drilling practices. This is a critical role for a professional who thrives in a challenging, results-oriented environment and possesses a strong track record in offshore or onshore drilling project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the execution of comprehensive drilling programs and well designs.
- Manage drilling operations, including equipment selection, personnel deployment, and logistics.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for all drilling activities.
- Optimize drilling performance, reduce non-productive time (NPT), and control operational costs.
- Lead and mentor junior drilling engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering, with significant leadership responsibilities.
- Proven expertise in well planning , rig operations, directional drilling, and completion design.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, casing design, and HSE best practices.
- Experience with drilling simulation software and real-time drilling data analysis.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
