About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Drilling Engineer to oversee drilling operations for projects based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling campaigns, from planning to execution and post-well analysis. You will lead a team of drilling engineers, manage contractors, and implement innovative drilling technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive drilling programs, including well design, casing strategies, and fluid selection, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior drilling engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Manage drilling contractor performance and equipment, ensuring compliance with contracts and operational requirements.
- Oversee real-time drilling operations, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to mitigate risks and optimize drilling efficiency.
- Conduct post-well analysis and lessons learned sessions to improve future drilling operations and share best practices across the company.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in drilling engineering , with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Extensive knowledge of drilling equipment, procedures, and associated risks, including directional drilling and managed pressure drilling.
- Proven experience in developing and executing complex drilling plans in diverse geological environments.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
