About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to spearhead critical projects focused on grid modernization in Birmingham . This senior position involves leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced electrical systems that enhance the reliability, efficiency, and resilience of the power grid. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of energy infrastructure, working with a dedicated team on projects that are vital to national energy security and the integration of renewable resources. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and engineering for grid modernization projects, including substations and transmission infrastructure.
- Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project execution plans for electrical systems.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment and control systems.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project delivery on schedule and within scope.
- Ensure all electrical designs and installations meet stringent safety codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and guide a team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Requirements
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering , with a strong focus on power systems and grid infrastructure.
- Extensive knowledge of high-voltage equipment , protection systems, and grid control technologies.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Proficiency in relevant CAD software and electrical design tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
