About the Role
Our client is actively recruiting for a Lead Process Chemist to spearhead their pharmaceutical development efforts in Coventry . This senior position involves optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis processes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), ensuring efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will play a critical role in transitioning laboratory-scale discoveries into robust manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will leverage their deep understanding of organic chemistry and process engineering to troubleshoot challenges, improve yields, and reduce costs, contributing significantly to the company's pipeline and its mission to deliver life-saving medications from its hub in Coventry .
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize synthetic routes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs at scale.
- Conduct process hazard analyses and implement safety protocols for chemical manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during process scale-up and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with analytical chemists and formulation scientists to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Document all process development activities and prepare regulatory submission documents.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience in process chemistry within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Expertise in process optimization , scale-up, and technology transfer.
- Proficiency with process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC).
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP guidelines and regulatory requirements.
