About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety culture and operations in Coventry . This role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operational aspects of the business, particularly within the energy sector . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of process safety management systems (PSM) across company operations.
- Conduct and review hazard identification studies, including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
- Develop and manage safety procedures, standards, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide expert guidance and training on process safety principles to engineering and operational teams.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process to ensure safety implications are thoroughly evaluated.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the energy industry .
- In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations and industry best practices (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
- Demonstrated experience with HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng MIMechE, MIChemE) is highly desirable.
