About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to bolster their operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This vital role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all facilities, mitigating risks, and fostering a robust safety culture. You will lead the development and implementation of safety management systems, conduct hazard identification, and oversee risk assessments. This position offers the chance to influence safety strategies within the demanding Oil & Gas environment and contribute to safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead and participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment studies for new and existing facilities.
- Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee the development and review of safety-critical procedures, emergency response plans, and permit-to-work systems.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering, with significant exposure to the Oil & Gas industry .
- In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, SIL , and quantitative risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards (e.g., Seveso Directive, COMAH).
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
