About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Marine Equipment Technician to join their specialized service team in Plymouth . This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of marine equipment, including engines, navigation systems, and deck machinery. You will play a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness of vessels and supporting the maritime industry in Devon . The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a passion for working in a marine environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, servicing, and repair of marine engines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various types of marine equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative measures to ensure equipment reliability.
- Work with navigation, communication, and safety equipment installed on vessels.
- Maintain accurate service records, parts inventory, and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
- Respond to urgent repair calls and provide on-site technical support to vessels as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Marine Equipment Technician or in a closely related mechanical/electrical engineering field within the maritime sector.
- Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and repair techniques specific to marine applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and vessel blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, in the Plymouth area.
