About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join their automotive division in Norwich . This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components for automotive applications. You will work within a dedicated team of automotive specialists, contributing to the next generation of vehicle technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the automotive industry and possess solid mechanical engineering fundamentals, with a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions within a collaborative, office-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and sub-systems for automotive applications, ensuring performance, durability, and compliance with specifications.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software , adhering to automotive industry standards.
- Perform engineering calculations, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, to validate design integrity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, testing departments, and suppliers, to ensure successful product integration.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
- Contribute to technical documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and basic knowledge of engineering analysis tools.
- Understanding of automotive component manufacturing processes and materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork capabilities within an engineering environment.
