About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Media Relations Officer to join their established PR team based in Manchester . This role is central to building and maintaining our client's media presence and reputation. You will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with national and regional media, securing positive coverage, and effectively communicating key messages to diverse audiences. Working in a dynamic office environment, you will have the chance to shape public perception and contribute to impactful communication strategies within the North West media sphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify media opportunities and develop compelling story angles for proactive pitching.
- Build and nurture relationships with key journalists, editors, and broadcasters across print, broadcast, and online media.
- Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and backgrounders.
- Monitor media activity and respond to incoming media requests efficiently and effectively.
- Support the planning and execution of press events, press conferences, and media briefings.
- Track and report on media coverage and campaign effectiveness, providing insights for future strategies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in media relations or PR, preferably within an agency setting.
- Demonstrated success in securing positive media coverage in national and regional UK outlets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for storytelling.
- Strong understanding of the current media landscape in the UK and key contacts.
- Ability to manage crisis communications and provide swift, accurate responses.
- Degree in Media, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
