About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Media Relations Officer to join their growing Media & PR team based in Sunderland . This role is central to building and maintaining strong relationships with local, national, and industry-specific media. You will be responsible for managing media inquiries, pitching stories, and ensuring accurate and positive representation of our client in the press. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a keen eye for news, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to manage the flow of information.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and requests.
- Develop and pitch compelling story ideas to relevant journalists and media outlets.
- Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze trends, and report on sentiment and impact.
- Coordinate interviews and media appearances for company spokespersons.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic communication plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a media relations or journalism role.
- Proven track record of successfully securing media coverage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong editing capabilities.
- Proficiency in media monitoring tools and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
