Mine Environmental Scientist - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Mine Environmental Scientist for a fully remote position, to support their mining operations across the UK. This role is critical in ensuring that all mining activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible and compliant manner. You will be responsible for environmental impact assessments, monitoring programs, and the development of mitigation strategies to minimize the ecological footprint of our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations within the mining sector and a passion for sustainable resource management, working autonomously from a remote location to uphold the company's commitment to environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental baseline studies and impact assessments for new and existing mining projects.
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs for air, water, soil, and biodiversity.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, permits, and regulations.
• Prepare environmental reports, management plans, and remediation strategies.
• Advise project teams on environmental best practices and mitigation measures.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and stakeholders on environmental matters.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or extractive industries.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes and regulations.
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Familiarity with GIS software for spatial analysis of environmental data.
• Strong report writing and communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
