About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on and experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair operations for their fleet of mining equipment and facilities in the Derby, Derbyshire, UK area. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of all machinery, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe working environment. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, manage spare parts inventory, and implement preventative maintenance programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and proven supervisory experience within a heavy industrial or mining setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance schedules for all mining equipment, including mobile and fixed plant machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy mining equipment.
- Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effective procurement.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide training and mentorship to maintenance staff.
Requirements
- Trade qualification or equivalent experience in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role within the mining or heavy industry sector .
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and maintenance management software.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
