About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mine Safety Officer to enhance their safety culture at operations near Norwich . This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of health and safety management within the mining environment. You will conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and training programs to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies. This hybrid role allows for both on-site presence and remote administrative work, ensuring a comprehensive approach to safety management in the Norfolk region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures for mine sites.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training programs to all site personnel, including inductions for new employees.
- Maintain all safety documentation, records, and permits required by regulatory bodies.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization and encourage employee engagement in safety initiatives.
Requirements
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Thorough knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation applicable to mining.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
