About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Mine Safety Officer to join their operational team in Nottingham . This role is paramount in ensuring the health and safety of all personnel on mine sites, implementing and enforcing safety protocols, and conducting regular risk assessments. You will play a crucial role in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation within the UK mining industry . Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs for mining operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and toolbox talks to mine workers and management.
- Maintain safety records and ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements.
- Advise management on best practices for risk management and hazard control.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NVQ Level 4 or above).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation applicable to mining.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and training abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with site personnel at all levels.
