About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mine Site Safety Superintendent to join their operational team near Leeds . This crucial role ensures the health and safety of all personnel on-site, maintaining compliance with rigorous industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety programs, conducting regular audits, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the mine. This position is integral to maintaining operational integrity and protecting the well-being of our workforce in a challenging mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the site's comprehensive health and safety management system.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training programs and toolbox talks to all site personnel, ensuring awareness and compliance.
- Ensure the mine site operates in full compliance with all relevant UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Promote a proactive safety culture, encouraging employee involvement and reporting of safety concerns.
Requirements
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety management systems and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relevant to mining operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
