About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their technical team in Oxford . This critical role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining effective mine ventilation systems to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel. You will analyze airflow, temperature, and contaminant levels, developing solutions to manage atmospheric conditions within underground mining operations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and ventilation principles, coupled with practical experience in the mining industry, ensuring optimal environmental conditions and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize underground mine ventilation systems, including fan selection, ducting, and airflow distribution.
• Conduct ventilation surveys, air quality monitoring, and thermal studies to assess environmental conditions.
• Model airflow and contaminant dispersion using specialized ventilation software.
• Ensure ventilation systems comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot ventilation issues and implement effective solutions to maintain optimal air quality and temperature.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design and production schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in ventilation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably within underground mining operations.
• Proficiency with mine ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, VentGraph) and CFD tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and air quality standards.
• Knowledge of dust and gas control strategies in mining environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
