About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their operational team based near Plymouth . This critical role ensures the health and safety of mine workers by designing, implementing, and maintaining effective underground ventilation systems. You will be responsible for managing airflow, controlling dust and gas levels, and optimizing energy efficiency within the ventilation network. This position requires a strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mine environments, making it a vital contribution to safe and productive mining operations .

Key Responsibilities

Design and optimize mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and environmental conditions.
Conduct ventilation surveys, airflow measurements, and gas monitoring.
Develop and implement dust and gas control strategies.
Manage the installation, operation, and maintenance of ventilation fans, ducting, and other equipment.
Model and analyze ventilation networks using specialized software.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mine ventilation in the Plymouth region.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ventilation.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
Strong knowledge of mine ventilation principles, air quality management, and thermodynamics.
Proficiency with mine ventilation software (e.g., VENTSIM, Ventsim DESIGN).
Experience with fan performance testing and system balancing.
Ability to interpret geological and mine layout plans to inform ventilation design for mining sites.
