About the Role
Our client seeks a qualified Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Derby . This role is essential for ensuring safe and efficient underground mining environments by managing air quality, temperature, and pressure. You will design, implement, and monitor ventilation systems, diagnose ventilation problems, and recommend solutions. This position requires a strong technical background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mine ventilation practices, making it a vital role within our underground mining operations .
Key Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and optimize mine ventilation systems to maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
- Conduct air quality monitoring and analysis to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Specify ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and environmental controls.
- Develop ventilation plans and strategies for new mine developments and existing operations.
- Troubleshoot ventilation issues, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering , preferably in underground mining.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and air flow principles in confined spaces.
- Proficiency with mine ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, VUMA).
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations pertaining to mine air quality.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
