About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their operational team in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This critical role ensures the safety, health, and productivity of mine workers by designing, implementing, and maintaining effective ventilation systems. You will be responsible for managing airflow, controlling dust and gas levels, and optimising environmental conditions within the underground mine. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mine thermodynamics, airflow dynamics, and the latest ventilation technologies, playing a vital role in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment in Stoke-on-Trent .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimise mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and air quality.
- Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, dust, and gas levels.
- Develop and implement strategies for controlling airborne contaminants and managing underground climate.
- Conduct ventilation surveys and airflow measurements using specialized equipment.
- Specify and procure ventilation fans, ducting, and other associated equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant mining ventilation regulations and best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation design and management.
- Proficiency in mine ventilation modelling software (e.g., Ventsim, Minesite).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mine environmental control.
- Experience with ventilation monitoring equipment and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an underground mining environment.
