About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team based near Bristol , operating on a hybrid model. This role is essential for ensuring the health, safety, and productivity of underground mining operations through the design, implementation, and management of effective ventilation systems. You will be responsible for maintaining optimal air quality, temperature, and pressure conditions within the mine, working closely with site personnel and management. This position offers the chance to apply specialized engineering knowledge in a challenging and rewarding mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize underground mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and air quality.
- Conduct surveys and measurements of ventilation parameters, including airflow velocity, pressure, and contaminant levels.
- Develop and implement strategies for controlling dust, gases, and temperature within the mine environment.
- Specify ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and seals, and oversee their installation and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to mine ventilation and air quality.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design and production schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground operations.
- Proficiency in mine ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, Buff, Vuma).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mine environmental control principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in a collaborative, hybrid environment.
