About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyse mortgage loan applications, including credit reports, income verification, and property appraisals.
• Assess the risk associated with each application, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and lending regulations .
• Make informed decisions to approve, deny, or request additional information for mortgage applications.
• Communicate loan decisions and requirements clearly to loan officers, brokers, and applicants.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in mortgage lending laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar role within the financial services or banking sector.
• Strong understanding of mortgage loan products, underwriting principles, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA).
• Proficiency in analysing financial statements, credit histories, and property valuations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in decision-making.
