About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialized Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their established team in Bristol . This role focuses on the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems for a variety of infrastructure and industrial projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of power networks, substations, and associated equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with expertise in power generation, transmission, and distribution to contribute to significant projects within a respected organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical power systems, including distribution networks, substations, and protection schemes.
- Conduct load flow studies , short circuit analysis, and stability analysis using specialized software.
- Specify and select power system components such as transformers, switchgear, and generators.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., G5/1, ER G121).
- Prepare technical reports, design documents, and tender specifications for power system projects.
- Collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or PowerFactory DIgSILENT.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment , protection relays, and SCADA systems.
- Experience with grid connection studies and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
