About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Process Control Engineer to optimize and maintain control systems for their chemical manufacturing operations in Oxford . This role is essential for ensuring the stable, safe, and efficient operation of our plant through the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of advanced process control strategies. You will work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to enhance automation and improve product consistency. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact operational performance significantly within a research-intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain process control strategies and systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA).
- Develop and tune control loops to optimize process performance, stability, and safety.
- Troubleshoot control system issues and perform root cause analysis for deviations.
- Specify and select instrumentation for process monitoring and control.
- Collaborate with process engineers and operations teams to identify control system improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance of control systems with safety regulations, including SIL assessments for SIS.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in process control engineering within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Emerson, Siemens) and PLC programming.
- Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and control theory.
- Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and SIL analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
