About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Chemist to join their Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing team in Oxford . This role is central to optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis routes for novel drug substances, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. You will work closely with R&D, engineering, and quality assurance teams to transfer processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the production of life-saving medicines within a dynamic and innovative manufacturing environment in the renowned scientific hub of Oxfordshire .
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize and scale up synthetic routes for APIs, focusing on yield, purity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and validate robust manufacturing processes suitable for cGMP environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues during scale-up and routine manufacturing.
- Conduct process hazard analyses and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Prepare detailed process documentation, including batch records and validation reports.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry, preferably within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and chemical engineering principles applied to process scale-up.
- Experience with analytical techniques for process monitoring and control (e.g., HPLC, GC, NMR).
- Knowledge of cGMP regulations and quality systems in manufacturing environments.
