About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Process Development Scientist to join their globally distributed, remote-first research and development team. This role is focused on optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for novel pharmaceutical compounds. You will leverage your scientific expertise to design, execute, and analyze experiments aimed at improving yield, purity, and efficiency of chemical synthesis and purification methods. Working entirely remotely, you will collaborate closely with international teams, utilizing advanced simulation tools and virtual communication platforms to drive process innovation from your home base.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize robust chemical synthesis routes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
- Design and execute experiments to scale-up processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
- Utilize process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical design of experiments (DoE) to understand and control critical process parameters.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process scale-up and validation.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, process descriptions, and validation protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and process implementation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical process development or chemical process scale-up.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of organic synthesis, reaction kinetics, and separation techniques.
- Experience with process modeling and simulation software is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and design of experiments (DoE).
- Excellent remote communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, comfortable working independently.
