Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their esteemed team in Oxford . This critical role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations within the Oil & Gas industry . You will conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent major accidents and ensure the safety of personnel and the environment. The successful candidate will be proactive, analytical, and committed to embedding a strong safety culture throughout the organization, making a tangible impact on operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) , LOPA, and other risk assessment techniques.
• Develop and implement process safety management systems (PSM).
• Perform quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and consequence modeling.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and training on process safety principles to engineers and operations personnel.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably within the Oil & Gas or petrochemical sectors.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles, including hazard identification, risk analysis, and layers of protection.
• Experience with HAZOP facilitation and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards (e.g., IEC 61511, API RP 750).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
