About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Liverpool, Merseyside, UK , supporting their operations in the Oil & Gas sector . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all facilities and operations, minimizing risks associated with hydrocarbon processing. You will be involved in conducting safety studies, developing procedures, and promoting a strong safety culture. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, Hazard Identification (HAZID), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Perform quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and consequence modeling.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Investigate process safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide training and guidance on process safety principles to operational staff.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably in the Oil & Gas or chemical industries .
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, HAZOP methodology, and LOPA.
- Familiarity with safety integrity level (SIL) assessments and functional safety.
- Experience with risk assessment software and consequence modeling tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, effective in a hybrid setting.
