About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remote Aircraft Systems Software Engineer to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to the development of cutting-edge software solutions for next-generation aircraft from anywhere in the UK. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and testing embedded software for critical aircraft systems, working collaboratively with a distributed team of engineers. This role demands a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in an independent, home-based work environment. You'll be integral to ensuring the safety, efficiency, and performance of sophisticated aerospace technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for aircraft control systems, flight management systems, and avionics.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as C, C++, or Ada, adhering to stringent aerospace standards.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems engineers, and safety experts to integrate software components seamlessly.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and verification and validation activities for safety-critical software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a remote development setting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in embedded software development , preferably within the aerospace or defense industry.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and a strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Familiarity with aerospace software standards such as DO-178C is highly desirable.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong analytical skills, suitable for remote work .
