About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Cheminformatician for a fully remote position. This role is central to advancing our client's drug discovery efforts through the application of computational methods and data science to chemical and biological information. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cheminformatics tools and strategies to support lead identification, optimization, and ADMET profiling. This is a senior role requiring deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with research scientists across multiple disciplines in a virtual setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust cheminformatics workflows and databases for managing and analyzing large chemical and biological datasets.
- Develop predictive models for compound activity, properties, and ADMET characteristics using machine learning and statistical techniques.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and computational chemists to integrate cheminformatics support into drug discovery projects.
- Evaluate and adopt new cheminformatics technologies and software to enhance discovery capabilities.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of computational chemistry and cheminformatics within the organization.
Requirements
- PhD in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Substantial experience (8+ years) in cheminformatics , with a strong focus on drug discovery applications.
- Expertise in cheminformatics software, databases (e.g., RDKit, KNIME, SciFinder, Reaxys), and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
- Proven track record in developing and applying predictive modeling techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and lead projects in a remote research environment.
