Remote Technical Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Technical Artist to join their fully remote creative team. This role is essential for bridging the gap between art and technology, ensuring that visual assets are optimized for performance and seamlessly integrated into our game development pipeline. You will play a critical role in developing workflows, tools, and pipelines that empower artists to create stunning visuals efficiently and effectively. Working from anywhere, you will collaborate closely with both the art and programming departments to solve complex technical challenges and push the boundaries of visual fidelity in our Arts & Entertainment productions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain efficient art pipelines and workflows for 3D asset creation and integration into game engines.
• Create custom tools, scripts, and shaders to enhance artist productivity and visual quality.
• Optimize 3D models, textures, and materials for performance across target platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art assets and engine integration.
• Collaborate with programmers to implement new engine features and provide artistic input.
• Train and support artists on pipeline tools, techniques, and best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Artist in the game development or entertainment industry.
• Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Suite).
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or C#.
• Familiarity with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity and their respective rendering pipelines.
• Knowledge of shader development and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical team members in a remote environment.
