About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Automotive Body Structures Engineer to join their team in Liverpool . This hybrid role involves the design, analysis, and optimization of vehicle body structures to ensure structural integrity, safety, and lightweight performance. You will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for crashworthiness, stiffness, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) characteristics. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting new vehicle architectures and contribute to industry-leading automotive designs while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze vehicle body structures, including frame, chassis, and shell components, for strength, stiffness, and crash performance using CAE tools.
- Develop lightweighting strategies for body structures, utilizing advanced materials and joining technologies to improve fuel efficiency and performance.
- Collaborate with styling, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams to ensure designs meet aesthetic, production, and functional requirements.
- Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static, dynamic, and crash simulations.
- Specify material properties, joint designs, and manufacturing constraints for body structure components.
- Support prototype builds and physical testing, interpreting results to validate simulation models and refine designs.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in automotive body structures design and analysis.
- Extensive experience with FEA software such as Abaqus, Nastran, or similar for automotive applications.
- Strong understanding of vehicle crashworthiness, durability, and NVH principles.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and materials (e.g., high-strength steel, aluminum, composites).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage tasks in a hybrid work environment.
