Senior Automotive Body Structures Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Automotive Body Structures Engineer to join their team in Liverpool . This hybrid role involves the design, analysis, and optimization of vehicle body structures to ensure structural integrity, safety, and lightweight performance. You will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for crashworthiness, stiffness, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) characteristics. Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze vehicle body structures, including frame, chassis, and shell components, for strength, stiffness, and crash performance using CAE tools.
• Develop lightweighting strategies for body structures, utilizing advanced materials and joining technologies to improve fuel efficiency and performance.
• Collaborate with styling, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams to ensure designs meet aesthetic, production, and functional requirements.
• Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static, dynamic, and crash simulations.
• Specify material properties, joint designs, and manufacturing constraints for body structure components.
• Support prototype builds and physical testing, interpreting results to validate simulation models and refine designs.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in automotive body structures design and analysis.
• Extensive experience with FEA software such as Abaqus, Nastran, or similar for automotive applications.
• Strong understanding of vehicle crashworthiness, durability, and NVH principles.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and materials (e.g., high-strength steel, aluminum, composites).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage tasks in a hybrid work environment.
